It's been awhile since I've written some music and this jam was an awesome way to get inspired!  This entire arrangement was made using Native Instruments' suite of virtual instruments with emphasis on rock and orchestral sounds.  For mixing, I used some light compression (Pro-C2) to control dynamics of each instrument and some EQ (Pro-Q3) to remove some of the harshness of the strings.  

The art provided on the jam's home page is what I used as a reference for sound design.  I added some cave ambiences and sounds of splashing water, as well as a creepy roar near the end to show that maybe you're not alone in this seemingly forgotten city.
